Job description:

In the production department, raw materials are converted into filled medicines. The product goes through several production steps (material preparation, weighing, formulation, filling in containers, freeze-drying, capping, inspection, storage and transport). Further in the production process, the medicine will then be labeled and packaged in order to reach the patients via the distribution chain.

The function of Team leader chemical laboratory is situated within the chemical lab. This is the department that is responsible for the quality control of components, raw materials, active ingredients, intermediates and (semi) finished pharmaceuticals from the production process. A variety of analytical and bioanalytical techniques are used (HPLC, UPLC, GC, SDS, CE, IEF, Karl Fisher, AAS, Slot Blot, ICP-OES, ...).

As a Team leader chemical laboratory, you support your analyst team to complete the planned (bio) analyzes in time and in high-quality way through teamwork, so that the patient always is assured of using high-quality-based medicines.

 You manage the operational activities of your analyst team. This implies:
o You lead your team in a way to make the best use of the available analysts and devices.
o You anticipate to complete the analyzes within the required time span, while prioritizing the urgent analyzes and reducing/removing bottlenecks.
o You provide input for the staff budget of your team.
o You take key actions and decisions in the investigation of doubtful results or results beyond specifications. You ensure that deviations in the lab process are reported and investigated in time.
o You function as a bridge between your team and other departments inside and outside the work location.
 You are a people manager, you coach the team operationally and support the team towards successful results. You look after all the human related activities, such as:
o Interviewing, selecting and introducing new team members.
o Defining the need of trainings and taking care of the follow-up of the effectiveness of training and development programs.
o Motivating and evaluating the performance of your team members on a regular basis. You take action if necessary.
o Contributing to a positive and respectful work culture within your team and coaching your team to respect rules, procedures and agreements.
 You ensure that everyone, your team, your colleagues, your supervisor and clients, receive the necessary information / communication to achieve successful results, in an efficient and effective manner.

Requested competences and skills:

• Master’s degree in the chemical, pharmaceutical, bio engineering or scientific world.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the industry or similar scientific research.
• Experience in a GMP environment.
• Good knowledge of analytical techniques and familiar with statistical evaluation of results.
• Quality minded.
• Strong people manager with strong communicational skills.
• Flexible, result-driven, creative and customer-oriented.
• Analytical and problem-solving, accurate and organized.
• Excellent documentation skills in a technical and objective way.
• Fluent Dutch and English speaking.
• Good knowledge of MS Office applications.

Nice to have
• Experience in a similar position or experience in a people manager role.
• Experience in a GMP environment.
